Calling all Nakibots fans and supporters...
With only 28 DAYS to go, we're starting to panic - and not just from the constant building, practicing and re-programming. We're also digging deep into our own pockets to fund our third adventure to the Worlds - entry fees, accommodation, flights and much more. Thankfully, relief is at hand! The GiveALittle page is now open for your generous support - help us by visiting givealittle.co.nz and donating to help us get to the worlds once again!

There are only 2 days until we leave, and the tension is mounting! We would like to say a huge thanks to all our sponsors for helping us out, and your money has been put to good use!
There are only 42(ish) days until the worlds, and the fundraising efforts are going well. On the 12th of March, come along to Mitre 10 Mega where Nakibots is holding a sausage sizzle (also selling drinks).
We made it once more - Nakibot B won the Nationals and is going to represent NZ in the USA! The pressure is on - practicing, building, programming... Here we go again!

Note: you can't see anything until 12:25, as the competition hasn't started. Te Manawa Museum - the site of our best scrimmage yet! Nakibots had all three robots at the competition and we placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the Skills Challenges. Overall, Nakibot 2518C (Austin and Bailey) placed 1st. We learnt lots from this, and there is only one more scrimmage to go before the nationals!
The next scrimmage is tomorrow - and we are preparing for it. At about 6 am (stupid o'clock - I know!) we will leave for the Te Manawa Museum, near Palmerston North. We have some strategies that we will use. The last couple of weeks have been busy with a lot of school stuff and a lot of team members being away during the holidays, but let's hope last Sunday's training session will be enough.
On Tuesday, 6 September, the Nakibots were invited by Matt Sagen of Taranaki Technology to speak at their group! The talk was about hardware automation, and how it applies to VEX and the Nakibots. The talk went for an hour, including the powerpoint, videos, demos and questions.
Here's a short compilation of some cool robots that I had shown at the talk and a photo: The Crossover field has arrived, it is all set up, and now we have (literally) ripped apart the bot and started fresh with a new robot designed to solve the new challenge, Crossover (game video here). It'll take a while, but this time we have WAY more parts!

Thanks, Conor Time flies when you're having fun. Or when you least want it - and it has! We have only 5 hours to go until our flight to Auckland takes off. We are all packed and ready and all that is left to do is step on that plane. IT'S REALLY HAPPENING! From now on, I will be blogging daily and whenever I can to keep you up to date on everything that's happening.
Also, thanks to all our sponsors and FDMC for granting me the time to go on this adventure to the USA! Wish me luck! Conor |
